On that day

When creation cracked and the waters above flowed down in sheets
To embrace the waters below

the temple fell and stone was torn from stone to be carried off
To far distant lands

the lions came with claws and teeth and crunching bones
to tear her limb from limb

righteous kings fell, broken and ruined; heavy with shame,
At the feet of beauty

children turned in parallels - increasing in intensity -
Away from Him

war became the norm and trust had no basis between the beloved children of God

On that day

She clung to a bow in the sky and wished - for His name's sake - that she knew where He'd hidden the arrows.
