I will come here in my mind
I will stand on the edge of this quarry and bask in the heat
I will smell the heavy air and re-train my lungs to breathe more water than oxygen
I will marvel at the changes - in me and this mad city state -
I will taste Phantom Laksa and remember papers that could have been better
I will re-live stories and dream of lost friends
I will recite the Hebrew Alphabet by heart and cant Genesis 1:1-5
I will say "can-la" and mess with Syntax just for fun
I will smile sadly
and I will laugh that I once thought the brilliance of Hebrew repetition worked in English
